Employment

CARTM is not hiring at this time.

When we are, this is the person we look for:  Do you want to get dirty and work hard? Have a positive attitude?  Work well with a team? Able to work outdoors year round? Committed to waste reduction and recycling? Flexible and customer service oriented? Willing to learn? Able to operate heavy equipment? We train. You might be just right for CARTM.

We keep applications on file for 6 months. Applications are available here, or from the CARTM cashier Thursday through Sunday from 10 to 4, or via email from ed@cartm.org.

CARTM is an equal opportunity employer that values its employees as its greatest asset.

WHAT WE NEED NOW ARE VOLUNTEERS!
CARTM needs two special volunteers, each willing to “own” a piece of The Refindery:

Sports Star is responsible for stocking and straightening the sporting goods & recreation department. Works with staff to identify items for display. Changes out items seasonally. Want to make sure quality used equipment gets back outdoors? Lets move!

Kitchen Queen (or King) is responsible for spiffing the kitchen department weekly, works with staff to keep the department well stocked and neat. Like a clean and orderly kitchen? So do we! Let’s get cooking!

We also need one or two volunteers to work independently once a week, picking up recyclable paper at the Wheeler and Nehalem post offices. Must be able to lift 40 pounds easily, and have a good driving record.

Contact Karen ed@cartm.org / 503-368-7764 to volunteer. Good volunteers may become great employees!

CARTM is a great place to work.

We care about our employees. We are proud of our team and the service they provide our community. Our number one concern is their safety. (Number two is providing the very best customer service).  CARTM has an excellent safety program.

Employees at CARTM are cross trained to be knowledgeable in all aspects of CARTM’s operations. Their jobs are never-ever boring. They literally draw their jobs out of a hat every morning; they come to work prepared to operate heavy equipment, calculate fees, monitor and service the recycling line, run the cash register, sort, clean and price donated items, and make 1000 lb. bales of everything from tin cans to lawn chairs. They all have good communication skills and work as a team.

Employment availabilities will be posted in The Refindery reuse store and on this website.  Applications are always available from the cashier during open hours. We review prior applications when positions become available; keep applications on file for 6 months. CARTM is an equal opportunity employer.
