Trash Bash
Our annual community event, the TRASH BASH, is typically scheduled on Friday, one the week before Memorial Day in May.

Other Events
CARTM sponsors on-going recycling work parties. In late winter and spring, we hold workshops devoted to the creative reuse of ‘waste’ materials led by local artists. History
Beginning in 1990, volunteers operated a recycling shack in a parking lot near the Manzanita fire station. They called themselves the Community Action Recycling Team of Manzanita (Cart’m). Several years later, Cart’m Recycling formed a non-profit organization and in 1997 received the franchise from Tillamook County to operate the Manzanita Transfer Station. In 2010, after 16 years of misplaced apostrophes, the name was changed to simply, CARTM.
Something is always happening at CARTM!
We operate under a seasonal schedule as many coastal businesses do. When we are closed to the public, our staff and volunteers are busy maintaining the equipment and facility, baling and shipping recyclables, sorting and testing donated items, and restocking the store.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is also the most talked-about community event on the North Coast - our annual Trash Bash, Trash Art Show and Trashion Fashion Show always draws a crowd in May! In the months leading up to the 'Bash we host a variety of art workshops demonstrating the creative ways waste materials can be reclaimed.
