Happening now at CARTM:

• Bag Ladies (and Gents) Wanted

Ladies (and gents) who like to create on their sewing machines are invited to help us make shopping bags out of recycled fabric.  Bags can be your own design or from a pattern we provide.  We have lots of materials to re-use, or bring your own favorite scraps.  Sewing machines will be available for your use along with tricks, tips and expertise from our own local fabric diva Doris Bash.

Plenty of fabric will be provided, or bring your own favorite scraps. For more information or to sign up call CARTM 503-368-7764.  If you would like to make some bags and need sewing support, contact Doris at Creative Fabrics at 503-368-5900. 

Bags will be sold as a fundraiser for CARTM at the Trash Bash and in the Re-Use Store.

ONGOING EVENTS:

• Wondering how a microwave works? Like to take stuff apart?

Come help us dismantle microwaves!  Wednesdays 9 am to noon

In order to recycle more materials, CARTM volunteers dismantle everything from vacuum cleaners to coffee pots. Our volunteers are champion microwave dismantlers. They separate the glass, plastic, metal, magnets, capacitors, magnetrons and small motors, all of which are then recycled or re-used.

Have fun volunteering at CARTM!
No experience needed - Kids 8 and up can be a big help (but must be accompanied by an adult).
Bring your own screwdrivers or cordless drill if you have one.

• Not your cup of tea?

You could help sort bottles and cans or test toasters! We also need volunteers to sort by size and fold sheets, towels, pillow cases, comforters,
rugs and other fabric.
